“Our mission is to promote our mission”

hygienic dress league (HDL) is an ongoing public art project by husband and wife duo Steve and Dorota Coy that uses a corporation (officially registered in the state of Michigan) as a new and original form of art. HDL, headquartered in Detroit, uses traditional and non-traditional modes of advertising such as street art, internet, video sharing websites, hype, word of mouth, magazines and newspapers, and other media outlets, etc. HDL billboards and signs activate abandoned structures in post-industrial areas and cleverly draw meaning from their locations. These various marketing tactics are used to disseminate its “Brand,” produce a social identity, and create a fantasy narrative through an interrelated multi experiential art project that enchants an unsuspecting public audience.

HDL doesn’t provide any services nor does it sell or manufacture any product. This project deconstructs marketing and advertising, questions the motives of corporations, and challenges ideas about value and social status in our society.

This exhibition is a collection of photographs from various photographers featuring the three levels of employees from hygienic dress league Corporation. The highest level employees are known as “the executives,” the mid level employees are named “the transporters,” and the lowest level of employees are dubbed “the extractors.”

WWF’s Earth Hour is a simple idea that’s quickly turned into a global phenomenon. Hundreds of millions of people turning off their lights for one hour, on the same night, all across the planet.

But it’s not to save an hour’s electricity. It’s something much bigger. WWF’s Earth Hour is about people coming together to put the focus on this brilliant world we all share – and how we need to protect it. Not just for an hour a year, but every day.

Because a healthy planet isn’t just good for polar bears or tropical tree frogs. It’s essential for us all. It’s easy to forget how much we depend on it for food, fuel, water, fresh air… And the truth is, our modern lifestyles have been taking a toll on our planet.

WWF already tackles a lot of the environmental impacts – like deforestation, endangered species, and the impacts of climate change. But Earth Hour is a chance for everyone to say they’ll do their bit. And that’s never been more vital.

And, Earth Hour is a celebration. It’s always a night to remember – whether it’s a special candlelit evening at home with friends or family, or a night out on the town, or watching the spectacular global switch offs from landmarks like the Eiffel Tower, the Pyramids of Giza, Times Square, Sydney Opera House… And everyone’s invited.

Ride the Storm. For five days, six states and a few thousand miles in December, Mitsubishi chased a storm. Not as dramatic as the blurb makes out. I kinda of hoped for a Twister-esque ride; but maybe that’s a little too much! But still a nice thought.
